We have great news for movie lovers! Searchlight Pictures has just revealed the highly anticipated trailer for its upcoming event film “The Supremes”. Adapted from the American bestseller “The Supremes At Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat” by Edward Kelsey Moore, this feature film promises to be one of the highlights of the season on Disney+.
A story of indestructible friendship
At the heart of The Supremes’ plot, we find the iconic trio formed by Odette (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor seen in The Color Purple), Barbara Jean (Sanaa Lathan who shone in Love & Basketball and Something New) and Clarice (played by the amazing Uzo Aduba revealed in Orange Is the New Black). These three lifelong friends, known as “The Supremes”, have experienced together the joys and trials of life for decades.
But today, as the years have passed, they must face new challenges that could jeopardize their precious bonds:
- The heartaches that bring back ghosts from the past
- The illness that threatens their beautiful complicity

A powerhouse artistic team at the helm
The Supremes marks the on-screen reunion of actress Sanaa Lathan and director Tina Mabry, who had previously worked together on Something New. The two women also co-wrote the screenplay for the film with Cee Marcellus.
To orchestrate this large-scale project, Tina Mabry surrounded herself with an experienced technical team:
