Great news for fans of Greek mythology and the Percy Jackson series. Disney has announced the renewal of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series for a second season to be aired on Disney+. This announcement comes after the phenomenal success of the first season, with over 110 million hours of streaming on Disney+ and Hulu platforms to date.

We are thrilled! The series based on Rick Riordan’s novels has captured the hearts of both young and old. It immerses us in an exciting universe where Greek mythology comes to life. We follow the adventures of the adolescent Percy Jackson, son of the god Poseidon, endowed with extraordinary powers.

Original cast returning for season 2

Season 2 will see the return of the main actors from the original cast: Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Our heroes will pick up where they left off at the end of season 1. They will embark on new thrilling quests based on the second book of the literary series, titled The Sea of Monsters. On the agenda: even more action, mythological creatures, and twists!

In addition to its critical and public success, the series has had a very positive impact on Percy Jackson book sales. Following the airing of season 1, the literary series returned to the top of the New York Times bestseller list in the “Young Adult” category! This growing popularity has also benefited the merchandising industry. Many merchandise products such as Percy Jackson t-shirts or agendas flew off the shelves after the series was released.

Which actors for season 2?

You don’t change a winning team! The main cast will remain the same for this new set of episodes.

• Walker Scobell will once again play the role of the hero Percy Jackson
• Leah Sava Jeffries will reprise her role as Annabeth Chase
• And Aryan Simhadri will return as the satyr Grover Underwood.

On the creative team side, Rick Riordan, the author of the original novels, will continue to oversee the project alongside screenwriter Dan Shotz. The direction of the new episodes will be entrusted to James Bobin (director of the film Dora and the Lost City of Gold).
